United Methodist Women have a “Purpose” which reads:

“The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ”.We read this purpose at each meeting and are reminded how important these words mean as we focus on mission goals.

UMW conduct Sunday Worship Service at Singleton

Our Singleton UMW group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM (except July and August)at the church. We have a devotional time together and learn about how we might support global mission efforts through our personal pledges to the District and Conference UMW, and we always support local charities as well.
This years programs will include information about Racial/Social Justice (Human Trafficking), A Call to Prayer, the Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic, the Mattaponi Healing Eagle Free Clinic and others. Each of these programs has enlightened us to ways that we can offer help to those in need. Also, this year we spearheaded a church-wide effort to become involved in the “Back Pack/Snack Pack Program” at Peasley Middle School. Through fundraisers and with the financial support from our Singleton congregation, we were blessed to be able to organize and pack approximately 80 back packs several time during the year. And, we plan to make this an ongoing mission effort.

We are a very caring and supportive group of women. We regularly try and help those in our group and also in our congregation that have needs, whether it be illness, a death in the family, etc. We share our joys and concerns together regularly, and we always end each UMW meeting with a Candlelight Litany where we lift our joys and concerns to each other and to our Lord. Hugs are always welcome at our UMW meetings!

The York River District UMW Mission Team organizes many meetings and celebrations which we enjoy regularly. We attend whenever possible because we know there is a strong connection when we gather together with other United Methodist Women.

It is always a pleasure to work together with the UMM and the Willing Workers to make Singleton a warm, loving, caring and hard working congregation of United Methodists that hope to spread the Love of God in this community and throught the area, District, Conference and worldwide.

Feel free to contact Brownie Bartley, President on (804) 693-5564 with any questions. God Bless……
